Jakarta — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and President-elect Prabowo Subianto appeared united at the Security Ceremony for the upcoming Presidential and Vice Presidential Inauguration, held at the Mobile Brigade Corps Headquarters (Mako Brimob), Kelapa Dua, Depok, on Monday (October 14, 2024).
Jokowi, who arrived at around 8:31 AM, was greeted by Prabowo, who had arrived earlier. Both leaders were dressed similarly, wearing formal suits with red ties and Brimob berets, showcasing their solidarity.
The duo received honors from the guard of honor before climbing aboard a Pindad-made All Terrain Assault Vehicle (ATAV), a product of Indonesia’s state-owned company, PT Pindad. They rode together, inspecting the troops as a marching band played and cheered along the route. The leaders carefully observed each unit during the review.
The ceremony began with the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by Jokowi receiving a formal salute as he took his place at the ceremonial podium.
During the event, Jokowi was awarded the Loka Praja Samrakshana Polri Medal of Honor and was given the honorary title of Brimob citizen. The medal was awarded under the decree of the National Police Chief (Kapolri) No. Kep/1723/X/2024, while the honorary Brimob title was granted based on the decree of the Commander of the Mobile Brigade Corps No. Kep/114/IX/2019.
Prabowo stood alongside Jokowi once again during the presentation of these honors, underscoring their continued cooperation as the presidential transition approaches. (RR)
