Several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the plight of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The focus of the meeting was on implementing Prabowo’s directive to find solutions for the affected workers. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of addressing the issues stemming from PT Sritex’s bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working arrangement in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli commended the curator’s efforts to potentially reemploy former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive proper layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the affected workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the impacted employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
