During a recent visit to Indonesia, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the crucial partnership between France and Indonesia. Macron highlighted the significance of the strong cooperation between the two countries, stating that it goes beyond mere symbolism. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit.
Macron expressed gratitude for the warm reception and stressed the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of collaboration in various areas including the economy, technology, security, and culture. Indonesia and France have enjoyed diplomatic ties for 75 years, with notable progress in recent years.
Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and applauded advancements in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and energy transition initiatives. Cultural collaboration was also a key focus of Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex to symbolize the growing friendship between the two nations.
President Macron extended his thanks to President Prabowo for the warm welcome and expressed optimism for ongoing joint efforts during his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
