National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has taken an innovative approach to boost local employment by enlisting workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals in extreme poverty. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to BGN, shared that a minimum of 30% of the workforce in each SPPG will be chosen from disadvantaged households, aligning with the President’s directive to ensure the Free Nutritious Meals Program empowers job creation. Presently, there are 2,378 SPPG units in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, with 93,572 community members volunteering in the program. The MBG Program has impacted over 7.4 million individuals nationwide, including students, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. To broaden the program’s scope, BGN aims to introduce 2,401 more SPPG units in the next 10 days, anticipating to reach around 15 million beneficiaries. This proactive move demonstrates a substantial effort to boost employment opportunities and address nutritional needs in underserved communities.
