Cirebon – The leader of the Buntet Islamic Boarding School, Mertapada Kulon Village, Astanajapura District, Cirebon Regency, West Java, KH Adib Rofiuddin Izza expressed his support for candidate number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
This support was conveyed directly by KH Adib at the headquarters of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) in Jakarta on Wednesday, January 3, 2023.
“Our hope is clear, I have conveyed to Mr. Prabowo before, Mr. Prabowo pays great attention to Islamic boarding schools and to the people and the community,” said KH Adib.
KH Adib is convinced that Prabowo is not a power-hungry figure, because the former commander of Kopassus wants to serve the nation.
“I am sure he doesn’t expect a position, doesn’t expect anything, just to serve the nation and country,” KH Adib said.
Furthermore, the charismatic kiai denied what had been reported earlier, where the name of the head of Ponpes Buntet was mentioned to support the Ganjar-Mahfud candidate.
KH Adib stressed that he has supported Prabowo since the beginning, because he and the Indonesian Minister of Defense have an emotional bond.
“That’s the dynamics of politics, but maybe the ladies or gentlemen do not know my emotional relationship with Mr. Prabowo,” said KH Adib.
In line with this, the Chairman of the Prabowo-Gibran TKN Advisory Council, M Iriawan, expressed his gratitude for the support.
“Of course, I am grateful to him, my teacher, my kiai, from the Buntet Islamic Boarding School, I am from West Java so I have interacted quite a long time in Buntet when I was there too. Certainly, because this is an extraordinary, old, charismatic pesantren, and has a considerable number of students,” said the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule at the same location.
Iwan Bule is confident that this support will strengthen the voices of Prabowo-Gibran, especially in West Java, so that they can win decisively.
“God willing, West Java will bring a fairly resounding victory, we pray. One thing is certain, I thank the leader of the Buntet Islamic boarding school for the support for our Prabowo-Gibran pair, which God willing will bring Indonesia to a better, more prosperous, and peaceful progress to become a developed country,” he said.
