President Prabowo Subianto recently paid his respects at the funeral of the late Major General (Ret.) Eddie Marzuki Nalapraya, a well-known figure in the world of Indonesian pencak silat. The funeral took place at the Pencak Silat Training Center in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta. President Prabowo arrived at 3:45 p.m., wearing a brown safari suit and a black peci cap. He took the time to offer his condolences to Eddie’s family, salute his casket, and embrace his grieving loved ones. During his visit, Prabowo emphasized Eddie Nalapraya’s role in promoting pencak silat as both a national independence fighter and former IPSI Chairman. He spoke of the significant impact of the martial art in shaping the national character and recognized Eddie’s unwavering dedication to promoting pencak silat locally and internationally. In honor of his lifetime achievements, the late Eddie Nalapraya was posthumously awarded the Bintang Mahaputera. President Prabowo ended his visit with prayers for Eddie Nalapraya’s eternal peace, acknowledging his lasting influence on the world of Indonesian pencak silat.
