During a virtual conference focused on the expansion of renewable energy development and oil production in East Java, Prabowo underlined Indonesia’s capacity to efficiently produce energy and streamline logistics chains, ultimately reducing costs. He stressed the vital role of energy independence in Indonesia’s pursuit of national sovereignty, unveiling a strategy that involves the launch of 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to supply clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the country’s numerous islands.
In his address, President Prabowo lauded the collaborative efforts of various ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy firms like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their contribution to Indonesia’s energy transition. While recognizing the substantial reserves of oil and gas within the nation, he underscored the significance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring communities’ self-sufficiency. Prabowo articulated his optimistic outlook for Indonesia’s future, identifying solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands.
