President Prabowo Subianto has set a bold target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has been declared as a national priority and urgent matter. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo recounted a moving experience during his visit to Central Java, where the demand for the program was visible. Witnessing the eagerness of schoolchildren and the community for nutritious meals, he was motivated to accelerate the program’s implementation. With a current reach of 6.7 million children, Prabowo aims to reach 20 million children by mid-August, with a long-term goal of reaching 82.9 million children by December 2025.

The extraordinary efforts of the Free Nutritious Meal Program have garnered global attention, with other nations closely monitoring Indonesia’s progress. Prabowo emphasized the importance of achieving tangible results to match the optimism surrounding the program. This initiative is part of a larger vision to combat child hunger, malnutrition, and learning disparities, ensuring that every child, regardless of their background, has access to the nourishment needed for growth and education. As Prabowo leads this ambitious endeavor, he remains committed to accountability and transparency, inviting scrutiny and evaluation of the program’s success in the coming years.
