The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program has been proven to enhance children’s concentration levels, as indicated by research conducted in Aceh. This improvement in concentration is expected to boost students’ motivation to learn, contributing to overall academic success. Studies by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) have also shown similar results, with students in Bogor and Papua experiencing improved focus and cognitive performance through the MBG program. The benefits of the program were especially noticeable for students who did not have breakfast before. In Medan, at State Vocational School 6 (SMK Negeri 6), the MBG program significantly increased attendance motivation and concentration among students. Concentration, explained Ikeu Tanziha, an Expert Council Member of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), is essential for brain development in children. Factors such as learning motivation, nutritional intake, psychological well-being, and physiological conditions like sleep quality and environmental stimuli can influence a child’s ability to concentrate. Ikeu highlighted the importance of key nutrients such as protein, iron, and omega-3 fatty acids for brain function and memory. The MBG Program aims to not only support physical growth but also enhance cognitive potential and intelligence in children. Despite challenges like unhealthy eating habits among children and limited access to nutritious foods in certain areas, Ikeu stressed the need for collective efforts to ensure the success of the Free Nutritious Meals Program. It is believed that this initiative will have lasting benefits for future generations and society as a whole.
