President Prabowo Subianto highlighted the tangible benefits of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) program during the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the House of Representatives (DPR) building in Jakarta. The program, which has been running for eight months, has provided free nutritious meals to 20 million beneficiaries, including school-age children, preschoolers, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. Prabowo reported that the program has established 5,800 Nutritional Service Units (SPPG) across 38 provinces, creating 290,000 jobs and engaging one million farmers, fishers, livestock breeders, and small and medium-sized enterprises. He emphasized that MBG is more than just a social welfare initiative, but a strategic investment in cultivating a healthy, intelligent, and productive generation. The President pointed out that higher school attendance rates and improved academic performance are already evident, showcasing Indonesia’s rapid progress compared to other nations like Brazil. Prabowo concluded by stating that the Annual Session was attended by leaders of state institutions, members of the DPR and Regional Representative Council (DPD), and the entire cabinet.
