Prabowo’s Warm Welcome: Indonesian Diaspora in Russia

Prabowo Subianto, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, arrived at his hotel in St. Petersburg to a warm and enthusiastic welcome from Indonesian citizens. The scene was filled with excitement as students, migrant workers, and members of the diaspora cheered, greeted him, and requested photos. Prabowo graciously reciprocated the warm reception by shaking hands, engaging in friendly conversations, and flashing smiles. Notably, three medical students from Papua studying in St. Petersburg expressed their joy at meeting the President in person for the first time. A family from Solo, Indonesia, currently residing in Russia, also had the chance to greet Prabowo, with one of the children even asking for Lego, much to everyone’s amusement. The encounter was emotionally charged, with expressions of national pride from the Indonesian community, accompanied by warm wishes and prayers for the President. There were also shared hopes for the establishment of an Indonesian consulate in St. Petersburg, highlighting the strong bond between Indonesia and its citizens abroad.
